Character info

The character

Noctowl is the Owl Pokémon, the evolved form of Hoothoot, known for its extremely soft wings that make no sound in flight, allowing it to silently approach prey undetected. It is a Flying/Normal-type Pokémon from the core video game series, recognized for its large eyes adapted to night vision and its rotating head. Noctowl has appeared throughout the Pokémon anime and games since its introduction in the Johto region.

This card

This is Noctowl, card 078 of 131 from the Prismatic Evolutions set, printed in 2025 as a holofoil card with rarity R. The artwork, illustrated by matazo, depicts the owl in a dramatic diving pose with wings spread and talons extended against a dark background. The card is a Stage 1 Pokémon that evolves from Hoothoot.

How it plays

Noctowl has 100 HP and is a Stage 1 Colorless-type Pokémon. Its Ability, Jewel Seeker, allows the player to search their deck for up to 2 Trainer cards and add them to hand once per turn, when this Pokémon is played from hand to evolve another Pokémon, provided a Tera Pokémon is in play, after which the deck is shuffled. Its attack, Speed Wing, costs two Colorless energy and deals 60 damage. It has a weakness to Lightning-type attacks at x2, a resistance of -30 to Fighting-type attacks, and a retreat cost of one Colorless energy.

Card details confirmed

A card with this name and number exists in the public card catalogue, in Prismatic Evolutions, a set of 131 cards, rarity R. The details on this certificate match it.

Illustrated by matazo and published 2025-01-17. Both come from the public catalogue, not from WinnTCG.

A catalogue match is not the authenticity check. It confirms the card is the card it claims to be. Whether it is genuine was checked separately, on the card itself; see Authenticity below.

About this card

Authenticity

WinnTCG authenticated this card in hand, on the bench, against genuine Pokémon cards. It was checked four ways: light shone through it to check the core, its weight on a scale, its thickness measured, and its print pattern and surface texture under magnification.

How this card was graded

WinnTCG graded this card in hand, on the bench. The card was in our hands, and we sealed the case ourselves. We photographed it here under controlled light to show which card is in the case and where anything we marked sits on it.

If you are buying this slab: the grade is WinnTCG’s judgement of the card that was in front of us, and WinnTCG sealed this case. The photographs above are of that card. Compare them against what you can see through the case, because a case can be opened by anyone who has held it since.

The working behind this grade

Every grade here is published with its reasoning. The report states what each measurement returned, what the model proposed on each axis, where the grader disagreed with it, and every defect marked on the photographs above.
