Character info

The character

Dragonite is the fully evolved form of Dragonair and the final stage of the Dratini line, numbered 149 in the Pokédex and classified as a Dragon Pokémon. Despite its large size and immense strength, it is known in the games and anime for its gentle, kindhearted nature, often helping those in distress. It is capable of flight despite its small wings and is considered one of the more powerful pseudo-legendary Pokémon.

This card

This is Dragonite from the Silver Tempest set, numbered 131 out of 195, printed as a Holo Rare in 2022. The card depicts a Stage 2 Pokémon evolving from Dragonair, illustrated by Naoyo Kimura, showing Dragonite flying low over ocean waves with its wings spread. The artwork uses a holographic treatment typical of rare cards from this set.

How it plays

This card has 160 HP and is a Colorless-type Stage 2 Pokémon. Its first attack, Dragon Claw, costs three Colorless energy and deals 80 damage. Its second attack, Energy Hurricane, costs one Water, one Lightning, and two Colorless energy, deals 180 damage, and lets the player search their deck for up to 3 basic Energy cards to attach to their Pokémon in any way before shuffling the deck. The card has a retreat cost of two Colorless energy and no listed weakness or resistance.

Card details confirmed

A card with this name and number exists in the public card catalogue, in Silver Tempest, a set of 195 cards, rarity Holo Rare. The details on this certificate match it.

Illustrated by Naoyo Kimura and published 2022-11-11. Both come from the public catalogue, not from WinnTCG.

A catalogue match is not the authenticity check. It confirms the card is the card it claims to be. Whether it is genuine was checked separately, on the card itself; see Authenticity below.

Authenticity

WinnTCG authenticated this card in hand, on the bench, against genuine Pokémon cards. It was checked four ways: light shone through it to check the core, its weight on a scale, its thickness measured, and its print pattern and surface texture under magnification.

How this card was graded

WinnTCG graded this card in hand, on the bench. The card was in our hands, and we sealed the case ourselves. We photographed it here under controlled light to show which card is in the case and where anything we marked sits on it.

If you are buying this slab: the grade is WinnTCG’s judgement of the card that was in front of us, and WinnTCG sealed this case. The photographs above are of that card. Compare them against what you can see through the case, because a case can be opened by anyone who has held it since.

The working behind this grade

Every grade here is published with its reasoning. The report states what each measurement returned, what the model proposed on each axis, where the grader disagreed with it, and every defect marked on the photographs above.
