Character info

The character

Gengar is the National Dex No. 0094 Shadow Pokémon, the final evolution of Gastly and Haunter. Known for lurking in shadows and dark places, it is said to hide within the shadows of its prey, waiting for the chance to steal their life. It is one of the most iconic Ghost-type Pokémon in the franchise.

This card

This is a Stage 2 Pokémon card for Gengar from the Chinese-language set Gem Pack 3, numbered 0305/07 with a star rarity symbol, printed as a reverse holo. The artwork, illustrated by Nelnal, depicts Gengar with its tongue extended against a night sky with a cracked moon and bare tree branches. The card shows its National Dex entry, height, and weight beneath the illustration.

How it plays

Gengar has 130 HP and is a Darkness-type Pokémon. Its Ability, Dark Gate, can be used once per turn to swap the Active Pokémon with one on the Bench. Its attack, Nightmare, costs one Darkness and one Colorless Energy, deals 100 damage, and puts the opponent's Active Pokémon to sleep. It is weak to Fighting-type attacks (x2) and retreats for one Colorless Energy.

Authenticity

WinnTCG authenticated this card in hand, on the bench, against genuine Pokémon cards. It was checked four ways: light shone through it to check the core, its weight on a scale, its thickness measured, and its print pattern and surface texture under magnification.

How this card was graded

WinnTCG graded this card in hand, on the bench. The card was in our hands, and we sealed the case ourselves. We photographed it here under controlled light to show which card is in the case and where anything we marked sits on it.

If you are buying this slab: the grade is WinnTCG’s judgement of the card that was in front of us, and WinnTCG sealed this case. The photographs above are of that card. Compare them against what you can see through the case, because a case can be opened by anyone who has held it since.

The working behind this grade

Every grade here is published with its reasoning. The report states what each measurement returned, what the model proposed on each axis, where the grader disagreed with it, and every defect marked on the photographs above.
