Character info

The character

Gloom is a Grass/Poison-type Pokémon known for the thick, sweet-smelling drool that constantly drips from its mouth. Despite the pleasant fragrance, the substance is sticky and unpleasant, and Gloom uses it to deter predators. It evolves from Oddish and can further evolve into Vileplume or Bellossom.

This card

This is Gloom from the CSV5C set, numbered 130 out of a 129-card base set, indicating it is a secret rare AR (Art Rare) variant. The card features full-art illustration work by Masako Tomii, depicting Gloom seated among lush jungle foliage with a Metapod-like companion in the background. The artwork extends across the entire card frame in the special full-art treatment typical of AR cards.

How it plays

This Stage 1 Pokémon has 80 HP and is a Grass type, evolving from Oddish. It has a Colorless-cost ability called Alluring Aroma, which lets the player select one of the opponent's Benched Pokémon and switch it with their Active Pokémon. Its Grass-cost attack, Leaf Dance Step, deals 20 damage. The card lists a weakness to Fire (x2) and a retreat cost of two Colorless energy.

Authenticity

WinnTCG authenticated this card in hand, on the bench, against genuine Pokémon cards. It was checked four ways: light shone through it to check the core, its weight on a scale, its thickness measured, and its print pattern and surface texture under magnification.

How this card was graded

WinnTCG graded this card in hand, on the bench. The card was in our hands, and we sealed the case ourselves. We photographed it here under controlled light to show which card is in the case and where anything we marked sits on it.

If you are buying this slab: the grade is WinnTCG’s judgement of the card that was in front of us, and WinnTCG sealed this case. The photographs above are of that card. Compare them against what you can see through the case, because a case can be opened by anyone who has held it since.

The working behind this grade

Every grade here is published with its reasoning. The report states what each measurement returned, what the model proposed on each axis, where the grader disagreed with it, and every defect marked on the photographs above.
